Wow, what a show!

Our local guild show finished up Saturday, and I am still reeling and humbled by the experience.  My Amazon Star and Not My Last Quilt, a reproduction BOM, both won first place ribbons in their category, but the Amazon closed the show with an additional three ribbons!  I was surprised but thrilled to see that it was awarded the Machine Quilting Merit ribbon for best longarm quilting because we have some very talented longarmers in our guild.  Then at the close of the show, it recieved the People’s Choice and Member’s Choice ribbons!  It all seems like a dream.

Amazon Times Three

I have been negligent in posting here on the blog so I will try to catch you up with glimpses of what has been going on in the work room of Quilted Dreams.

The last photo I posted was of my Amazon Star at the beginning of the quilting process.  Well, it is quilted but the binding and label have not been attached so the photos of it are in sections.  I promise to post a photo of the entire quilt but it will have to be when my sweet husband can help me hang the monster!

When I got mine off the frame, I then began work on another Amazon Star that belongs to my dear friend, Kathy, who has entered in the State Fair of Texas’s quilt show.  She will find out after September 1st if her quilt will actually be exhibited at the fair.  I have positive vibes about this one….

And believe it or not, a third Amazon Star was load immediately after Kathy picked hers up.  This one belongs to another dear friend, Shelley, who plans to enter hers in the Des Moines guild show which is held in conjunction with the AQS show in Des Moines.  We will be visiting this quilt there in October and hope to see a ribbon on that one as well.

Ready for Binding

I pulled my reproduction pinwheel sampler off the frame yesterday and have the binding on ready to be stitched down by hand. It was a BOM from Common Threads in Waxachie, Texas a few years ago, and I am glad it is done. Another UFO is done in 2012!

2012 Off to a Good Start

I know that have not kept up with my blog updates very well, but my goal for the new year is to do better with letting you know what is going on and how projects are progressing. I also have set this year as the year to get many of my unfinished projects quilted and bound between client projects, so as the title states, 2012 seems to be off to a good start because yesterday, January 3rd, I finished quilting one UFO that has been hanging in the closet for a very long time. Today, I will get the binding ready. This quilt will go to a beautiful young couple who are very dear to my family.

I have already loaded my second UFO and Myrtle’s ProStitcher is stitching away a beautiful feather design.

Please check back for more finishes this year.
